Today was the day we presented our presentations to the rest of the class and miss Clarke, whilst it was being recorded. During each persons presentation we where given 4 sheets that we has to fill in on how well they did and on what parts of their presentation skills they could improve on. The categories we had to fill in where quality of visual aids, Body Language, Voice, Time Management, Well organised, knowledge and two boxes saying overall comment and what can be improved. We where asked to rate out of 5 -being excellent on each one and give comments if necessary. An advantage of this was that we could view back our critique and pick up how we can develop to improve our grades and presentation skills.
I think our presentation went well as a group, but individually i could have improved a lot. Dieter was very professional and had good body language with the audience. However, i was nervous and at the start my throat went sore, making me cough and not get my words out properly. This lowered my professionalism in my voice and also made me speak a lot quieter than i already was. I did keep eye contact with the audience a lot more than i have done in previous presentations, which for me was a personal improvement, but it wasn't enough to fit the professional standard it should have been. There was parts where i looked at my script a little too long trying to find my position again as i was nervous. This meant the eye contact was limited and performance weakened. The PowerPoint was good and wasn't too full of notes, just simple bullet points we could look at if we lost track and to simplify our speech to the audience. We also used a lot of screen shots to show our work and how we preferred one theme to another for our original PowerPoint on the media sectors we chose. To improve we could have added a few more pictures of our work to show specific parts we where talking about within the script and develop on them individually instead of just having some on the screen for the audience to see. At the start of our presentation, me and Dieter had a few difficulties with our scripts and they didn't match up to the number of slides we had. This meant at the start we had to quickly run through which slide matched the correct part of the script. This didn't take longer than a minute, but was still very unprofessional, and we should have noticed it before we came up in front of the class to fix it.
Our feedback sheets where mainly overall marked for both of us and not as individuals. We where asked to score each others power-points on how well we thought there .... was in each of our presentations. Here are the following terms that where placed into the question on specific areas of our presentation. For the first question, which was on quality of visual aids. We mainly got 5's except one which said 3 and another which said 4. There reasons for this where that there could have been more images, which i think would have improved our work also. However positive comments said that there where good colours used and images within our presentation, which again i would agree with.
The second question was on body language, where we mainly got 4's. We received one 5, and 3/4 where one member of our class marked us individually. The 3 was for my performance and the 4 for Dieters. The comment on my body language was that i was quiet, but clear. I understand where this individual is coming from and i will work on improving my performance skills in order to boost my marks next time. The third question was voice, where we mainly scored where both 4's and 5's. Particularly, one person said that my performance was again a 3 as my eye contact could have been improved, i had my legs crossed and i moved my hands around too much. As i was more concentrated about the presentation and script i wasn't aware i was doing these body movements, but will definitely try to work on them in order to improve my performance in future.
The next was time management, which as expected due to our script issue, left our scores mainly being 3's. We however received a 5 from someone who felt we had good management as our PowerPoint didn't go on for too long, it was roughly 6+ minutes. On the other hand we also received a 2 from someone who commented on our slow starting and said it was unprofessional. I think me and Dieter would both agree this was true and it will be something we can work together on to ensure it doesn't happen again.
The next question was knowledge, where we received three 5's and three 4's. The reasoning behind the fours was that with more practice it would have been more apparent the knowledge we had, but it was obvious to the audience we did know what we was talking about in overall on the presentation to a high standard. I agree with this comment and see how it would make us both seem more knowledgeable on what we where discussing.
The final question was well organised, which again we expected lower results than we had hoped. We mainly scored 3's as we got off to a slow start. One person said that they felt our performance wasn't practiced enough and that we didn't split the slides equally in relation to the script. We did originally split them equally, but we then added additional slides and had to make adjustments, which made them slightly unequal. We didn't see this as an issue as they weren't completely unfairly distributed however we understand where this comment arose from. Also, we didn't get time to rehearse fully as we where a little delayed on completing and putting our original power-points on our media sectors together, which is defiantly an area we could improve on.
Over all our presentation seemed to go well with the audience, however i have a few personal improvements to make to boost my scores. As a group, me and Dieter need to ensure that next time we set aside some time for us to practice our work in order to ensure we improve our presentation skills. It was said that in total we explained our strengths weaknesses well and honestly too. We found this an easy part of creating this power point as we already knew from the previous tasks in the other presentation what we can do to improve, as well as what we already do well. It was also said by someone that presentations skills could be improved but the visual presentation was very good. I was already aware of this and will improve as much as i can before the next presentation.

If i was to re do the whole unit again, i would have changed and altered many things. For example, i would have worked with more haste to complete the first PowerPoint, so i didn't have such little time to start the next one that we presented. This is because it delays the time of practicing the new presentation and also adds a lot of pressure to both me and Dieter, as we both did the same thing. I would have also been considering my presentation skills and analyzing how and where i need to improve so that i would have been more confident when it came to preforming. Another thing i would have changed would have been when me and Dieter both left school on Thursday leaving Dieter a short amount to do in his frees the next day whilst i was in my lesson. This was unfair and also meant that we could have spent that time in school on Thursday until we had finished it, meaning that we wouldn't have has the mishap with the script and PowerPoint at the start. For my persona progression, i would have also tried to find the time to keep up to date with my blog as it would have helped me evaluate my work prior to the presentations, so all i would need to do was refer to it when it came to answering the questions needed on the final PowerPoint. I would say the strongest aspect of my work where defiantly the research in the PowerPoint i did as i added additional information to each section of it. This meant i took my time to understand what each section was asking of me and also improve my own knowledge on each section. I will defiantly use this strength in the next unit as it helps you when your in your performance, when you have to give off information that you wouldn't have been able to contribute if you didn't research further into the matter. In order for it to balance with the amount of time set, i will have to use a lot of my spare time out of school to ensure its completed, and give me enough time to complete other tasks that have been mutually set for a similar deadline.
